We conduct admissions twice a year, in the fall and winter. For April admission, applicants must submit application forms either by early August of the preceding year or by the middle of December of the preceding year. For October admission, applicants must submit proper application forms by the end of July.

Applicants must satisfy one of the following qualifications:
Completion of a Master`s course (or expected completion of the course by the day of admission) at a Japanese university.
Completion (or expected completion) of a postgraduate course equivalent to a Master`s course in Japan, at an acredited educational institution outside Japan.
Engagement in research at a university or a research institution for at least two years after completion of undergraduate courses in Japan or 16 years of formal education outside Japan, and being certified by the University that the achievement in research is equivalent or superior to the academic credentials of one who has completed a Master`s course.
Approval of the applicant by the University as one whose academic credentials are equivalent to or superior to those who have completed a Master`s course.
There are several scholarships available for the Sokendai students and for post-doctors. The Japanese government offers the Monbukagakusho / MEXTscholarship, and the local government, international associations and private foundations also offer other scholarships.
